6 Steps to Changing a Diaper
Step 1: Supplies In Order
Before starting, always make sure that you have all the supplies within reach:
- warm water
- baby washcloths
- clean diapers
- diaper cream or ointment
- cotton balls
- clean clothes
Step 2: Place On Back
Place your adorable bundle of joy on his or her back on a changing table, washable pad, or thick towel. Then get a clean diaper and put it on one side.
Step 3: Get Diaper
Place another clean diaper underneath your baby, which will catch any unexpected bowel movement.
If you have a boy, place a washcloth over his penis to prevent him from spraying all over the place.
If the baby is fussy, try singing, talking, or make funny faces to distract him.
Step 4: Wipe
Wipe from front to back, and clean the inside of the crease. It’s advisable to use both water and a washcloth, but you can also try baby oil on a cotton ball.
Step 5: Washcloth
Let the area dry before putting on diaper cream and a clean diaper. If you want to speed up the process, you can use the washcloth to dry the baby. If you notice any pink areas, apply diaper cream or ointment to get rid of diaper rash.
Step 6: Put Diaper On
Place the unfolded diaper that you set aside earlier under your baby’s bottom.
After that, pull the front part of the diaper between his or her legs and fasten them snuggly together.
Some diaper ideas or advice are to roll up the dirty diaper before throwing it in the trash. This is to trap the odor and mess, so it doesn’t spread all over the place.
After you completed the six steps, wash your hands with soap and water so that you can enjoy time with your baby.
