How God Gives Me The Strength To Keep Fighting On

How God Gives Me The Strength To Keep Fighting On

More and more people are being diagnosed with depression and anxiety these days. Yet, so many still struggle and suffer in silence due to the negative stigma that our society associates with them.

In this article, I would like to share how God has helped me, personally, to deal with my depression and anxiety daily, and continue to get up every day and press forward to fight the good fight.

1 – Community ~ How God Gives Me The Strength

The first way that God gives me the strength to keep fighting on is through the community.

Allowing myself to be vulnerable and open up to friends and family about the things that I struggle with is one of the best gifts I have ever given myself.

Certain people in my life help to lift me when I’m not able to pull myself free from the darkness on my own. Sometimes I lose touch with these people, but God seems to bring them back into my life at just the right time.

2 – Wisdom ~ How God Gives Me The Strength

The second way that God gives me the strength to keep fighting on is through wisdom. God has given me the wisdom to seek counseling when needed and use medication. These were very important steps for me to take, and they have helped me tremendously.

3 – Prayer ~ How God Gives Me The Strength

The third way that God gives me the strength to keep fighting on is through prayer. Ever since I became a Christian, I have been pretty big on praying without ceasing.

Some days I do better with this than others, but then there are some days when I feel like all I can do to make it through the day is pray. Praying regularly doesn’t seem to do very much to help with my depression, but it does seem to help ease my anxiety a bit.

4 – Scripture ~ How God Gives Me The Strength

The final way that God gives me the strength to keep fighting on is through scripture. I will be the first to admit that I don’t read my Bible as much as I should.

If I’m completely honest, sometimes months go by before I realize I haven’t touched my Bible at all. But years ago, I made myself a small booklet of verses to help with my depression and anxiety.

This little booklet has helped to pull me out of the dark so many times. One of the best things that I have done for myself was to make this little booklet.

How God Gives Me The Strength To Keep Fighting On

My research has indicated that 264 million people have depression, 284 million people have anxiety disorders, and a whopping 792 million people have a mental health disorder.

With these numbers being as high as they are, I don’t understand why there is still such a strong negative stigma attached to them at all. These are just the numbers that we have from people who have been diagnosed.

There are countless others out there suffering alone that haven’t been diagnosed and refuse to talk to anyone about what they’re dealing with. It doesn’t need to be this way.

God can help you in one of the same ways He continues to help me every day, and that is through the love, support, and encouragement of community.
